Warning: Use of the former canon name that Bronies scream about.
I received this question, and decided to make followers answer it
I have a brony friend who isn’t entirely sure how the name Derpy is even ableist in the first place, because he thought it meant having/making a funny face. I’d hate to bury this blog in Derpy drama, but I always have trouble explaining the whole thing. I think he’s getting it, but he did bring up things like “why is derpy offensive when ______ isn’t offensive?”
My personal answer would depend on the person (or word) she’s being compared to, but it bothers me in general that people try to silence anyone who’s offended with “Well, why weren’t you offended by this?” Besides, Bronies are just mad that they didn’t get their precious shout out kept forever.
Furthermore, it bothers me when people bring up Snails. He’s a little kid, Ms. Pegasus is an adult. It’s completely different, unless you think an adult woman is on par with a young boy.
